Salvador is a unique city. It expanded and urbanized, but did not loses its historical traces and cultural characteristics, which makes it one of today’s principal tourist destinations in Brazil. Within its variety of attractions, the beautiful beaches, All Saints’ Bay, Pelourinho, and the Lacerda Elevator are standouts.
The Bahian people are considered to be the most accommodating of Brazil – they love parties, sun, and fun, just like the tourists that visit the region. The city has its own cuisine, which vary from acarajes (black-eyed pea patties fried in palm oil) sold by Bahian ladies in traditional garb, to specialty restaurants, which serve caruru (traditional dish with okra, onion, shrimp, and palm oil), fish, and seafood, among other regional delicacies.
